You've drowned the regulator which is on the back of the alternator. You 
need to fix this soon as 17 volts will fry the ECUs quickly. The bulbs 
in the headlights have probably blown.
Take out the alternator and remove the back cover. If it's still wet in 
there you may get away with drying it out carefully. If its dry you'll 
need a new regulator. I don't know if they are supplied separately, I 
assume it is a standard Bosch part.

A dirty engine bay is a happy engine bay!
