Subject: [928uk] Wiper Relay Upgrades
Ok Guys . . .
After asking the question, then reading the Rennlist Web Forum, I have
upgraded my 928 Wiper System.
I have been a bit dismayed with our car's front intermittent function, and
also the rear "3-wipe" system. I received two fixes:
Front: You can replace the original intermittent relay with a V.W. relay
that allows you to program the interval time with the stalk. No more
rheostat. The interval time can be anywhere between 2 & 45 secs. It is a
direct replacement and I am very happy with the results! The cost was
£26.50. The following text is from the forum:

The wiper will wipe once.
>
>2.When you need the wiper to wipe again, you place the wiper switch to
intermittent and leave it there. It will remember this time interval and
repeat the wipe at this interval.
>
>3.To change the interval, just turn to off (wiper will wipe) and then turn
back to intermittent position to set the new time interval.

>4.The relay is reset to a 6 second default interval when ignition is turned
off.

relay ( it moved around in different year groupings ). <a

fuse/relay charts online.

REALLY tight. the relay is an optional VW relay, it didn't come on most
cars. even we need to order it.
Rear:
I replaced the original relay with a standard "Horn" relay. Once again,
strait swap. My original relay had a little bracket attached to it, which I
just transferred over to the new one. This allows a "one-push, one-sweep"
operation. I my opinion this is much better. I hate being in traffic and
needing to clear the rear screen, then a
thump-thump,thump-thump,thump-thump! Now it is just a thump-thump!
I hope this interests some of you . . . .
