Hi Daniel,
The idle stabiliser is a motorised valve, the motor part can wear out, also
the valve can stick which can sometimes be helped by a squirt of WD40 into
it from below the MAF.
At 105k miles, it is a good time to lift the inlet plenum, replace the idle
stabilsier valve, plus the hoses that go it to (which perish) and also the
knock sensors are probably due for replacement.
