Roger,
Thanks for the steer. I looked at the accelerator pedal and realised that
the armature that pushes the switch was not travelling far enough to engage
the switch fully. Ive now adjusted the rod that connects the pedal to the
accelerator mechanism so that I get more travel. This seems to have done
the trick as I can now feel the switch engage when the pedal is fully
depressed.
Wont be able to know for sure if its worked until tomorrow when I take it
out for a test drive. Will keep you posted.
Richard.

Richard,
I had the same problem. It was not the switch itself but the plastic panel
to the right of the accelerator pedal.
A PO had installed it incorrectly and it was stopping the pedal from
engaging with the KD switch.
Worth checking.
What a difference it made to the car.
Best,
Roger

Could someone give me advice on how to check that the kickdown switch under
the accelerator is working correctly.
The reason I ask is that I only seem to be getting first stage kickdown.
TIA
Richard.
