hello,
the cylinder block on my 928 has cracks at the top of 2 cyliders due to
overheating and possible hydraulic pressuring from water being in the
cylinder.
i can find a good welder who can weld repair the cracks but i can't find
anyone to nicasil the cylinder walls after the repair is done.
it sems that there are some nicasil coaters out there but they are only able
to handle small motorcycle cylinders and none of them that i've contacted
can handle a V8 sized block.
i've been told that Mahle who do the OEM coating for porsche are not
interested in doing repair work and they refuse to accept repair work.
i'd be grateful if anyone can tell me of a nicasil coater that they have had
a good job from.
alternatively, if anyone has a block or an engine in good condition for a
1994 GTS 5.4 litre 32 valve that they could sell me i'd be interested in
discussing that too.
i've considered sleeving the bores but i prefer to try and bring it up to
the original specs before resorting to that method.
any suggestions would be gratefully received.
regards,
paul greenwood
