I know its tempting but can I ask everyone not to send messages to more
than one mail list.

This is called cross-posting. Cross-posting is easy to do, and it is
similar to emailing to more than one person. However, remember that
excessive cross-posting is considered bad form without a good reason,
because it multiplies and confuses traffic in the list several times
without adding any new content.

In the extreme case, if everybody cross-posted every message to every
list, then every list would look exactly the same. You should
cross-post only when it is REALLY needed. When you cross-post an
article to more than one list, you may want to specify that all
responses should be directed to a single list or person.

Can I also ask everyone not to republish the list on other servers.

This is called mirroring. I understand that this is happening and dont
agree with it. I cannot see a need for it.

I maintain an archive of the list, and you can get it here
http://www.928.org.uk/list.html by clicking the join the list button
and heading for the archives. Its deliberately a little hard to find
so that casual users dont find it. This archive slightly alters email
addresses to stop some spam but it does not alter them much so postings
could be identified. If someone just mirrors all the postings to an
email account then even this level of obfuscation wont be there. So can
I ask you if you are mirroring the content please stop.

I dont care what anyone does with the content of the list for personal
use. Im just concerned about republishing.

Angus
