[928uk] 928 or 911

I go with Smiffy's comments here. I've owned two 911s (a C4 964 and a
C4S 993), and I am much more thrilled with my 928 (89GT) than I ever
was with those. It is an emotional thing in the end, and I've been
quoted as saying that the 928 is much more "engaging". The 928 is more
comfortable, has more space, is less tiring and quieter, is more
"interesting", and is actually more fun.

At Oulton Park last year (on a very wet day), I lapped as a passenger
in Andrew Brierley's red GT, and we were comfortably overtaking 911s
(including a 993 Turbo4) because (in my opinion) most 911 drivers of
average ability are fundamentally frightened of their cars at speed,
especially in the wet. They should be - at least three of them "fell
off" the track that day.

Test drive a 911 or two and a few 928s. Avoid going the 911 route
first as you'll still end up with a 928, but you'll just get hit for
depreciation on your flirtation with a 911.

The other good thing about 928s is that they are not so price sensitive
to mileage as 911s, and they can be really good value, and there are
some very good and pragmatic specialists (and listers) who know a lot
about keeping them going well.

I'm thrilled with my 928. I drive it more than I ever drove my 993,
and it keeps a smile on my face for longer.
