Mass Air Flow sensor. Bosch hot wire device that senses the amount of
air going into the plenum (throttle position etc) and passes the
information in the form of a voltage into the engine ECU. After a time
(100k+ or lots of short runs /stopping and starting usually) the
platinum wire becomes eroded and the unit goes out of calibration - duff
info into computer and the engine loses power and runs slightly roughly.
Some times difficult to diagnose, the best way is to get it to JDS for
checking, as it is easy to remove.

2nd fan will only come on if the temp is high, as your temp is normal
there should be no problem.

Dunno . Try it!

Its worth stripping and rebuilding the tensioner when you have the rest
apart.

Go under car, drop the exhaust from the downpipes (you pretty well have
to do this on Cat cars, remove inspection plate on housing behind
flywheel and the flexplate is visible. Check with straight edge, if it
is concave it is applying pressure to the crank.

Is the engine wavering - if so it could be loads of things, MAF for
instance. I had a wavering problem on my '91 S4 and it would
occasionally just stop. This turned out to be a dirty connector on the
engine temp sender (front right, sends identical signals to both
ignition and fuel computers

The hose underneath the pump tends to weep and drips down. If you are
not too worried about the puddle on the floor, and you check the level
occasionally, it's probably not worth bothering about.
(wait for the flaming on that one!)
Make sure the oil is not coming from the rack though.
