Hi Everyone
Sad news I'm afraid - at the too-young age of 44 my partner Bob died this
morning after a long, painful and humiliating illness. It is Bob who first
got me interested in the 928 - he owned one when he was 21, and always
regretted parting with it in favour of a 911. During a 3-month hospital
stay after kidney failure and a brain haemorrhage, he encouraged me to go to
look at a couple of 928s advertised, pointing out that if I wanted one I
should do it now as I couldn't guarantee being fit enough to enjoy one in
the future (referring to his own condition).
I just want you all to know that I have always enjoyed being part of the
list, even though I don't contribute anything useful (I know nothing about
cars other than what I have learned from Adrian Clark over the past year),
and will continue to look forward to the 20+ emails per day which help to
take my mind off my problems. I'll make an effort to come to some of the
meets now that I will have more time on my hands - luckily I made the
Gatwick meet last year, bringing Bob with me, and we both thoroughly enjoyed
it - being in the 928 was one of the real pleasures he had towards the end.
