Renegade in the US supply parts and kits for a more conventional conversion using the GM SB V8. I'm not convinced that a decades old design of 16v V8 is an improvement on the Porsche unit (16 or 32 valve) but someone must think so!

So could the microlight actually get off the ground with the weight of its batteries? ;-)
 
I think the milk-float-928 has 26 [climate-controlled!] batteries!! That's not going to help the performance!

A few years back I got involved with a group at Uni' who put together an electrically powered microlight. Admittedly it did only weigh 450kg but when we did the trial runs at Kemble the acceleration was awesome. I was filming from a V8 powered chase vehicle and it out ran us down the runway.
