Paul said it all really.
Couple of other points, if you really like the car and don't plan to resell
it ever then the points about getting your money back & colour &
non-standard etc. are not so important for you.

Steve,
A good ORIGINAL 928s 83 would only be worth £5-6k tops, any car that has
been altered to the owners taste is only worth what someone is prepared to
pay for it. If it is the car I am thinking of then I might give £1500, but
as you can tell it is not to my taste.
Here are what I have sold manual cars for in the last three years,
1985 s2 Prussian blue excellent interior, few small blemishes on body
£4500
1981 928 converted to manual with s2 engine/box very rough interior
smashed nose/wings (I crashed it) £1500
1981 oak green s mint body/interior few small electrical gremlins £4500
1986 s2 Prussian blue/retrimmed interior in cream £4000
1979 928 mechanically perfect small amount of bodywork to make mint £2000
Also just bought 1984 s2 white with sports interior £2600
All cars were sold with plenty of mot /tax and were capable of being
driven straight away with no major work due in the near future IE cam
belt/w/pump had just been done or was not due in the near future.
Many people say to add another £2000 onto the price of any 928 to bring it
up to spec this can be reduced by doing the work yourself but I can say from
experience that the biggest headache you will have with ANY 928 that has not
been exercised regular will be electrical problems, closely followed by oil
cooler failure .
The car you describe has had a lot of money thrown at it but that still
does not make it a good car, these cars are not easy to sell by any means
and customized ones even more so unless they have been done by recognized
companies such as strosek/gemballa.
I would recommend you look for a car in the £5000 bracket in the colour
you want with a good tidy interior, make sure it doesn't smoke when you hit
the redline and spend the rest of your cash on getting the car how you want.
Hope this helps,
Paul Anderson

Hi guys,
I hope you can help i am currently looking at buying a 1983 4.7 928 with
a manual 5 speed box from a friend firstly its been owned by him for 13
years and has only covered 7000 miles in that time it is currently showing
62000 miles with all the old mot's to prove the mileage he has spent over
£27.000 on the car since he bought it, it has been repainted yellow with
genuine Porsche s4 front bumper and 2 rear spoilers and a lower splitter at
the rear like on the 944 turbo. The interior is unbelievable as my friend is
a vehicle trimmer by trade he learnt at AC cars so its all grey leather with
yellow piping leather roof lining and door cards and the dashboard
completely covered in grey suede. so the inside is like brand new completely
rewired so all the electrical gremlins are gone.New brakes, exhaust, tyres,
all the belts changed, tinted glass all round and registered on a private
plate so as you can see the car is very good but my dilemma is the price i
think i could get the car for £7000 or at the death £8000 but as that is
right at the top of my price range i wanted to know if that was a good price
i know its hard to value on a description but i can only say for a 21 year
old car its exceptional. The only things wrong are the air con is not
working correctly and the bonnet and boot support pistons are to weak to
hold either of them up, the viscous fan is also faulty and works
intermittently and that is about it.
One last thing he has always run the car on leaded and now lead
replacement fuel would this car not cope with unleaded or at least super
unleaded. Many thanks for your help and you never know i might be joining
you very soon. Just purely out of interest i currently run a 1982 GRINNALL
TRIUMPH TR8 DHC.
