[928uk] No start - 87 S4 with META alarm

Evening - 

Houston , we have a problem ......

Went out today - called in at a place at lunchtime and less than 5 mins later jumped back in pressed the immobiliser key for my Thatcham 1 META alarm and went to start car.....nothing - pressed button couple of times ....nothing - then started ....OK I thought I can't press button correctly first time .....

Got home - went out 2 hours later to collect the kid and no start and no hope of starting. Everything works incl the alarm and when I press the immobiliser button the little tell-tale light comes on as it should but then goes out the moment I turn the key to start - I can here two relays - one behind the HVAC unit in the POD and the other one in the dash - pod one clicks first - when you turn the key back the one in the dash clicks - I cannot hear the solenoid in the starter throw out.

Cleaned the battery terminals (new 700ah battery), cleaned earth straps and + terminal - still nothing. I cleaned the earth strap under the car last service and the one up the front by the electronic bits on the front n/s valance - just in front of the rad - but have not done the two by the coils.

Personally I think the immobiliser bit is playing up and have an alarm man coming out tomorrow to look at it.

Any ideas?
