[928uk] Tyres

Luke - check the 928uk website "info" section under 'tyres & wheels' (
<http://www.928.org.uk/wheels.html> http://www.928.org.uk/wheels.html), and
go to the tyre size table right at the bottom of the page... looks like your
tyre shop is correct!

And yes - 'N'-rating is just a Porsche approval of a specific tyre. Tyre
shops can be funny about fitting non-N-rated tyres to Porsches... but IMHO
its a bit academic for the 928 as newer tyres with N-ratings won't have been
tested & approved by Porsche on the 928!
So long as you don't fit low-speed rated remoulds or other such tatt which
will fall apart under the 928-strain!!

P.S. What are your Fulda's like? (apart from being too wide!) They are
presumably non-N-rated too... but have been given okay reviews for a
mid-priced 928 tyre. Toyo's should be better (but cost a little more too)

Subject: [928uk] Tyres

Sorry to bring this topic up again, I am currently looking at replacing my
rear tyres which are Fuldas. After reading past listings I think I am
going to replace them with Toyo Proxes T1 -S, unless anybody has any advise
why I should not.

I was ringing my local garage with the sizes of the tyre (265/40ZR17) to get
some prices and he was surprised with the dimension, the rims are genuine 17
inch Porsche alloys (Cup 1s), but the garage claimed the width should be 255
rather than 265. Is it possible the previous owner fitted the wrong size
tyre and does the 10mm actually make a difference?

On a tyre what does it mean by 'N' rated, is this just a Porsche approved
tyre is it ok to fit other brands such as Toyos?

Thanks for any help
