[928uk] Digi-tec chip tuning

I've been looking into using a Dastek Unichip on my 1995 AMG Mercedes. Not simply for an increase in power, but because my current ecu is playing up and Mercedes want a genuine fortune to replace it.

Gerry Gaffney at Storm Engineering (0845 345 4045), the UK distributor for Dastek, advised me that a gain of anything more than 10-15hp from a chip swap on a normally aspirated engine is exceptional. He will not be drawn on peak power improvements, but markets the product on the basis of improved driveability and fuel consumption. This is the ecu that Devek also sell.

Dastek's website is www.dastek.co.za.

I'm sure other companies will also do replacement chips for 928s. Some of the claims are extravagant - for example, one company claimed to be able to extract 500bhp from a Lotus Carlton simply by changing the ecu. When designing the engine, Lotus had significant problems getting more than 370bhp reliably...
