I'm glad someone keeps my emails. Fan info is still current. My pair of
scrapyard fans of unknown vintage are still doing sterling service 20k miles
later.
Don't swap to Silicone fluid unless you change all the seals and hoses
first. Use Dot 5.1 - yes it is hygroscopic and change it every year - A
litre of Ferodo 5.1 (or Halfords 5.1 its the same stuff) should be around
£10. You only need a litre to change it all. Do it every year and you lessen
the chances of corrosion in the system and of the fluid absorbing water. The
928 is one of the easiest cars I have ever bled, It will actually bleed
itself by Gravity if you have 24 hours per bleed nipple to waste, Invest in
a gunsons eezi bleed - makes it a 1 man job and dead easy. It's cheap
insurance/preventative maintenance and it gives you a few minutes with each
wheel off to look at the wonders of Porsche Engineering (well Brembo
actually) and look for other potential problem areas.
