[928uk] 928S will only idle

Hi folks,

I am new to the fold, and need some help with my 1981 Black 928S.
The car is in Saudi Arabia, where they are few and far between.
Some months back, it cut out at a set of traffic lights, and refused to start again,
it had been running well up to this time.
On having it collected by a local garage, the fuel pump was blamed for this fault.

One new fuel pump, fuel filter and 8 new injectors later, it will start, but only idle.
When you try to build the revs up, it backfires, coughs and cuts out, it will restart,
but only idle.

The only way I can get the revs to build up, is to put a live feed to the cold start
injector, which is not ideal, and hints at a fuel problem.

Having access to a breaker 928 of the same year, I have changed most of the
fuel plumbing under the bonnet, to no avail, it still starts, but will go no further
than idle.

Please help, as 928 expertise is quite rare in this neck of the woods, and my wife
thinks if it wont work, it should go to the great grave yard in the sky.
