Howzit folks,

Hope you're all recovering nicely..

Andy, are you going to document what you did to get your heater matrix
repaired, ie. How to get the dash out, console, etc..

Many thanks,

Gareth

Mac - evening

Yep! - started 9am and finished at 5.00pm - and that incl lunch and a
pressure test up the road from me. Not a hard job just very involved -
definitely not the sort of job to do in bits - it would be very easy to
forget to join up some wires in there! the seal had gone in mine between the
side tank and the core.

I managed to avoid taking out the box - once I had the dash and pod off I
could see the front of the box and I was able (with a squeeze at the top) to
pop off all of the clips and get the front of the unit off - this meant that
I did not have to discharge the aircon. The heater matrix then just slid out
easily.

I appear to have joined everything back up correctly - everything seems to
work anyway!

Thanks for the help with the unit - my radiator man up the road has managed
to find a company that remanufactures all Behr original equipment - £ 130
for a heater matrix and £ 250 for a main rad - not bad value for a new unit.

I'll ring you again about the engine mounts - I am up at Junc 25 a fair bit
for work so I can always drop by and collect them.

Thanks again for your and Nick's help yesterday.

Regards..................Andy

Mac -

Done! - from my perspective I could do with the unit ASAP as I am off next
week and need to get it fitted - are you around on Monday? If so I could run
over and collect it.

Thanks.............Andy

I'm just about to remove the dash from a 928. Would you like me to remove
the matrix from it for you?

Mac

Subject: [928GB] leaking heater matrix?

Afternoon

I have a strong smell of hot water and antifreeze in the cabin as well as a
wet drivers side tunnel carpet.......it's a fair guess that the matrix is
leaking I would imagine.

I have tied the HVAC heater valve shut with a cable tie to stop any more hot
water running into the matrix. Is there anything else I should do - I do not
want any more water around the electrics!

Has anyone tackled this before and if so where did you get a new / refurbed
matrix from and what else should be done in there whilst I am at it.

I'm not looking forward to this......

All help appreciated as usual.

Thanks....................Andy
