Thanks Smiffy,

that answers my question - they both go to the same terminal.

On the down side, I'm happy to have a go at any job, however, I've messed up a bit with this one - I removed the top of the solenoid and broke the wires that connect to the cap. 
The good thing about this is that I can now see that it looks like it was pretty worn in there anyway. The bad point is, I now have to buy a new starter.
