If you are suffering from uneven idling and have checked for vac leaks, 
idle switch, MAF etc and not cured the problem completely, try removing 
and replacing the temp sensor plug. It seems to have cured my problem. 
It is quite critical inasmuch as it sends an analogue signal to both 
engine computers, so if either channel is different/intermittent it 
causes all sorts of confusion. A new one is only 15quid or so direct 
from Bosch anyway
