928uk Annual meeting December 2002

A short movie

December meet (Windows Media)

Saturday morning saw 55 928's (believed a UK record gathering) at our annual meeting at The Merry Miller, Cothill, Nr Abingdon, Oxfordshire. I got there at about 12. The car park was already full. The buzz was great and so was the food. Although I detected the pub wasnt used to selling so much Coffee :-) We even had 928 name badges (thanks Rob) and the committment award goes to Simon for hitching a lift from Norfolk in Adrians SE because his GTS is undergoing more surgery... It was great to see every model represented from a perfect T'reg 928, to a 95 GTS.

Back in 1998 6 UK 928 owners met up and set up ths mailing list and then the web site at www.928.org.uk for UK owners and fans. Each year we said we would meet with anyone on the list on the anniversary and this year we had 70 odd people from the 928uk mailing list, from the GB list, from Porsche Club GB and from The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club. Importantly nobody cared what club or list you were on. What mattered was a shared interest in the 928 and its V8. I had a great day out and caught up with people and met new people whos names and cars I know but not what they look like.. It was great to see most of the Stuttgart factory 928 visit gang in attendance too!

Record breaking 928 meet in the UK

Rob Burrells ever fabulous GT and a Pub car park thats slightly intimidating to the GTI brigade... Pics: Mark Moss

Timeless classic with current wheels and updated mirrors in a modern colour, or Strosek mean machine? We had it all....

Two cars had current sport design wheels fitted like this one above and both looked like they had just rolled off the line.

One person I was talking to as the 79 left said to me is that a late 90s car - it looks so new. His jaw just dropped when I said no it was made in 1979 when Punk rock was moving out of the way for the new romantics............

I took a few shabby pics with my camera phone. Send me better ones and I'll post the best ones here.
