Update
Paul reckoned connector corroded slightly. Under bonnet near battery charging point.
Showed me what to do for future reference. He removed the immobiliser circuit for starter (just in case) leaving fuel and ignition immob. Collected today. seems cool. a/c ok. He would accept no cash. What a boy. Alan
Last Week
Thursday morning saw us up and running at 9am and off. We were taking my M5 to the dealer and going on in his GT. We got about 400 yards from my house and as Alan explained..
"I switched off at a junction as the AC switch wouldnt work. An orderly reset fixed it last time. This time though nothing worked. No starter, nothing. I suspected the immobiliser / starter motor."
It looks nice parked in a leafy Surrey lane
We pushed his car to safety and called the RAC after trying everything we knew (opening and closing the bonnet, running through the starter process several fruitless times. Scratching our heads etc etc.)
Predictable outcome
The RAC procedure is identical when dealing with a 928
- THEY: Arrive in a van after an hour
- THEY: Say "Its a 928 - thats a big one" or similar
- THEY: Open Bonnet and say "not a lot of room is there"
- THEY: Stare at engine for a few minutes
- THEY: Say "I think it needs to be recovered - do you have a local garage"
- YOU : Say "Paul Anderson in Stroud"
- THEY: Wince
- THEY: Check with head office who try to get a local dealer
- YOU : Insist on your specialist dealer being the only place
- YOU : Fill in the survey
- YOU : Wait 1-2 hours more for the low loader to arrive.
Oh no not again
